One of the main differentiators of Covenant is the fact that we lean so hard on our values. We believe it’s what truly makes us who we are and it is what our founder and CEO David Parker built this company on over 35 years ago. Empathy, Servanthood, and Virtue.
When Covenant approached Michael and Nina Dixon, a husband-and-wife driver team, about trading in their current dedicated account routes for a newer opportunity with AAT, they jumped at the opportunity to “serve their country in a new way”. Although Michael is the Veteran of the family, the Dixon’s dedication to patriotism and servanthood doesn’t stop with him. In fact, they have a daughter that is currently following in his footsteps and serving in the Air Force!
Michael and Nina have been happily married for 30 years, living out their lives and raising their family in the small town of Wynne, Arkansas. Before coming to Covenant, Nina had a very successful career as an Administrative Assistant, and Michael dedicated himself to the successful operation of a local rice mill.
“Our nearly 5 years as drivers for Covenant have been a wonderful experience. When we retired from our previous careers, we knew we wanted to do something together - maybe travel and also make a little bit of money, so my husband suggested truck driving together. We were brand new to truck driving when we came to Covenant and went through the school and training here to learn everything.” Mrs. Dixon stated.
“It was a bittersweet moment to turn in our usual dedicated route and start something brand new, but we knew that Covenant would have our back, and we just felt like it was the right move” Mrs. Dixon stated when we asked how it felt to be starting this new venture. “We have learned that staying close to our fleet manager and supporting team is the key to success in driving. Communication is everything. If you don’t tell them there is a problem, or that you think you may have a better idea, how are they ever supposed to know to help you?” she says.
Nina and Michael have one thing that they want to get across to all drivers, team, and otherwise: “It all comes down to communication. Communication with each other, communication with your fleet team… just over-communicate everything! Keep good rapport with your team, they keep you moving. You may not always understand everything but keep the communication going because the intent is good.”
Covenant acquired AAT earlier this year, and we are so excited to grow together in the years to come.

“We are very excited to have our first team transitioning from Covenant to AAT. We believe this is a great opportunity to bring high quality drivers into our industry and it is going make positive impact here at AAT. It is great to be part of the Covenant Family!” Kevin Gaither, VP Government Services
We want to thank Michael and Nina Dixon for their dedication and loyalty to Covenant Logistics over the last 5 years, and we wish them all the best in their new venture with AAT. We can't wait to continue to grow with this dynamic duo.
